Kanye, Daft Punk, iTunes

It’s interesting to see that Kanye’s “Stronger” is the number one Hip Hop single in iTunes, but even more interesting is the top album: Kanye’s Graduation. The album isn’t even out yet - it’s beating everything else in the category on pre-sales alone.

But the strength of “Stronger” goes even further - its success seems to be bleeding over into the Electronic category. There, the original Daft Punk song that Kanye sampled for “Stronger” has pushed up to the number one spot as well.

PR says about K. West: “He basically opened the doors back up for cats like me. They weren’t playing Pete Rock-ish beats. Like, if you listen to the radio they play a bunch of radio-friendly records that’s wack. He’s bringing that soul back.”

And who gets the Pete Rock stamp of approval? “All the new guys – Kanye, Swizz Beatz, 9th Wonder, Hi-Tek, Madlib, Nicolay, Just Blaze, all those cats. They all get my stamp of approval.”
