Zane Tate on Sound of Style Compilation

Zane Tate’s Speed of Soul is among the songs featured on Sonic Vogue Records’ Sound of Style compilation.

“Sound Of Style” comes in a stylishly designed cover that promises music of the same. Disc One starts off with energetic Drum ‘n’ Bass track “LA Nites” and follows up with dancefloor stompers “Trance With Me” and “Listen To This”. “Noise” and “Suzuki Junky” continue in a similar vein but the mood is distinctively darker here. “Infiltrator” takes us through a splendid strings buildup while “Testify” turns in a surprising lively raggamuffin track. “Greece 73″ takes us back to the dance floor with some funky house as does “U Give Me Love” while “Microdot” and “Retro Electro” delivers standard but enjoyable electronica fare. Disc Two begins with “Shooting Stars” a simple elegant piano piece before the tempo takes an upturn with “Smooth”. “That’s Sexy” is sexy while ballad “Hard Time to Shine” quietly shines. More downtempo ambient-type tracks with “Trance 01 Pub”, “Speed of Soul” and “Two”. “Run” is a well-sung reggae track while “Chinatown Pursuit” is a well-crafted piece that would fit well in practically a million movie scenes. Refreshing and bouncy, the groovy “Lolita” would do well to be placed on the “Groove”-side. Finally “Revisiting”, a minimal piano piece that speaks volumes, ends off Disc Two. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable listen with more than quite a few standout tracks. –Audio Juice Mag
