Mark just sent us the following update on the Politik remix competition:
heads up everyone - just over 2 weeks to go in the remix competition. so far we’ve had a lot of entries from all around the world covering just about every style imaginable. there are some stand-outs, some that leave you scratching your head and best of all some that introduce some new production talent.
there’s about 60 entries in so far and we’re hoping to see a whole lot more over the next 2 weeks.

Following the success of Truth & Soul’s remix of the Amy Winehouse track “Love Is A Losing Game,” Truth & Soul is at it again, this time remixing a track from Gabriella Cilmi, who is currently touring the UK with the Sugababes. Whereas the original take of “Sweet About Me” is more straightforward in nature, the remix elevates the song to a new level, adding a soulful groove and incorporating lush instrumentation to the track.
Soul Sides has what you need with a preview of Al Green’s “You Got the Love I Need.” The song features Anthony Hamilton, ?uestlove, and the Dap-Kings horns. The new album Lay It Down drops May 27 on Blue Note, and promises to be amazing. More info here.

K’naan, global hip-hop artist, is set to release his critically acclaimed album, The Dusty Foot Philosopher, for the first time in the U.S. Originally released in Canada, the album received a Juno Award for Best Rap Recording of the Year and was the BBC 3 Winner for Best New Artist, World Music. The American version of the album features re-recorded songs, extra tracks, and a bonus DVD. The album will be released by Bay Area record label, Interdependent Media on June 24th, 2008.

Christophe Lemaire, the Creative Director for iconic French sportswear brand Lacoste as well as his own brand Lemaire Collection, has collaborated with one of his favorite music labels, Stones Throw Records, for the Summer ’08 Lemaire Collection.
