Artist Feature: The Square
The Square, whose real name is Aleksander Markovic, is a Drum and Bass producer and DJ from Vienna, Austria. Markovic is also fluent in the styles of House, Electronic, and Techno, and he cites Rock, Jazz, and Ambient music as influences. Impressively, you can hear all these elements in his compositions. His music is focused not on reaching the masses but, as he says, in touching “the heart of the auditor.”
The Square has released tracks on Corinthian and Black Reign Records (among others), and donates all profits to Heifer International and Doctors Without Borders. Markovic says “Buy my music, not because of me, but because of the people who you can help with every dollar, euro, or pound you have.”
