Animat’s A Promise of Snow EP is almost entirely a collection of remixes of some of their recent music.

The EP features remixes by Vancouver based Verbrilli Sound (Upstairs Recordings), The Beaufort Scale and Removal Company, as well as Animat’s own ambient mix, commissioned for the “Quiet Voices” installation at Tate Britain in January. Plus new mixes of favourites “Riverbed Road” and “Heart Shaped Balloons”, as well as the rare SonVer remix of “Touch and Go”. The CD version features two exclusive bonus tracks, remixed from the Earplay album: the Sleeping Robots mix of “The Closer You Get” and The Only Michael’s ambient remix of “Earplay”.

The record is filled with dark and imaginative Downtempo. The song that truly shines though is the title track, which features moody, ambient tones brightened by the shimmery sounds of a glockenspiel. The melody reminds the listener of childhood anticipation of snow showers.
