Deluka – “Cascade”

Deluka

A surprisingly catchy song. If you’re new to Deluka, here’s some info from the press release:

Deluka’s story began when vocalist/songwriter Ellie Innocenti’s performances at Birmingham’s Jug of Ale caught the eye and ear of electronics expert and producer Kris Kovacs. The duo combined their electro yearnings and soon joined forces with bass player Daniel Brasco and drummer Stevie Palmer under the moniker Deluka, a name inspired by a dysfunctional character from the motion picture Pretty Woman. Operating on a shoestring budget in their infancy, Deluka trolled yard sales in the Midland countryside scouring cheap deals on unconventional instruments. Sampling and sequencing the sounds of the eclectic instrumentation resulted in a sound steeped in yesteryear, but progressive in execution. The group’s pop sensibilities injected a certain buoyancy into the tracks, and following praise from influential tastemaker NME, Deluka went on to ink a deal and release an EP with Brooklyn indie label Vel Records.

Deluka’s EP spawned the hit “Cascade,” an infectious syth driven track that is currently charting well at radio stations across the country. A video for ‘Cascade’ was shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Antoine Verglas, noted for his work with fashion giants Elle, Vogue, and Esquire, and featured on AOL’s Spinner. Verglas’ stylish vision finds candid footage of the band interspersed with a striking performance filmed at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, New York.
