Andy Compton (The Rurals) and Ladybird (Soldiers Of Twilight, Llorca) have teamed up as L.A.M.P. to drop some easy soul music with jazz funk influences, and the new album is called Shades of Green. Listen below…
Deep House producer Andy Compton has released a new Soul/Funk/Jazz project under the name COMPTON, and the album is called Compton’s Soul. The record features musicians such as Charlie Hearnshaw, Jeff Bass, Pete Mo, Andy Barton and Alex Pamplin, and guest vocals from artists including Jaidene Veda, Ladybird, Diviniti and Kafele.
Compton’s Soul illustrates Andy Compton’s soul music inspirations at a laid-back tempo while maintaining the deep and elegant production of his House style. The sound is more organic though, and the vocals more delicate; the groove is more relaxed. While I wouldn’t quite call it chillout, Compton’s Soul is very much an album for wine and daydreaming.
DJ Garphie’s debut on Grooveland Music is called “Take Me Home,” and features vocals by George Sida. The release includes remixes from Andy Compton, Anderson Donato and the Brazilian Soul Crew. This one is definitely recommended if you like deep house music.
Andy Compton has mixed Jazz, Nu Jazz, some Chill Out, and of course Deep House to come up with his new album Kholofelo. The LP is Comption’s first solo release after having produced Deep House music for more than fifteen years with his group The Rurals. Andy Compton’s Kholofelo drops May 24th, but it’s already receiving positive feedback. Osunlade calls it a “good album full of sweet soulful tunes.”
