Lemongrass has released a new EP entitled Gloriette. The album is all “Chill House” – smooth chillout music set to a four-to-the-floor rhythm – and three of its songs feature vocals by Jane Maximova who sang on the group’s recent LP Papillon. If you enjoyed the 2011 Lemongrass EP, Sans Souci, you should love this record.
Lemongrassmusic has released the fourth volume in its Cinematic Lounge series. The compilation is just in time for the darker months in that the songs on the release are often pretty dark – some of them fitting for a small indie film, and others appropriate for a big thriller. Soundtrack is the theme for the album. The label describes it as:
a collection of contemporary electronic lounge music gently spiced with ideas of soundtracks for movies and short films yet to be written…. let your imagination follow these paths for a while and you will soon find yourself in the middle of your own screenplay.
Lemongrassmusic has reached a major milestone: the label is dropping its 100th release, and it’s a massive one. The compilation is called Episode 100, and it includes fifty new and unreleased tracks selected by Roland and Daniel Voss.
The label is only seven years old, and began as a vehicle for Voss projects such as Lemongrass and Weathertunes; however in that seven years, Lemongrassmusic has expanded to feature musicians from sixteen different countries. And while the label is primarily known for Lounge, Lemongrassmusic has explored a variety of genres such as Nu Jazz, Trip Hop, and Deep House.
Episode 100 covers the many lush and loungey sounds of the label with Lemongrassmusic veterans alongside recent newcomers. Artists include Jane Maximova (a Leisure Lab favorite), S.W., Glam Sam, and of course Lemongrass. But the playlist is huge so you should check out the entire release in iTunes. I recommend this one highly.
Out now on Lemongrassmusic is The Riviera Sessions by Glam Sam and His Combo. Glam Slam gives us a nice mix of modern jazz and dance music rhythms on this release, and of course a heavy dose of lounge. The Riviera Sessions is fun to listen to, and ideal for lounging with friends and martinis.
Zane Tate’s newest single, “The Last Resort,” is out now.
“The Last Resort” is a downtempo / instrumental hip hop song by Zane Tate, and it’s as appropriate for spy films as it is for luxurious lounges. The track features a bouncing beat, a hypnotic bass line, and a mysterious melody. “The Last Resort” is for any fan of exotic trip hop or chillout music.
