Dublin-based producer Ciaran McCarthy, also known as Suburban Dream, has released a new single called “Not Who You Said,” which is a very chilled deep house track. On the b-side is a song called “Everything Comes Apart,” a downtempo and somewhat ambient song. Listen in below.
Textured, and to a degree, ambient, Out in the Wild by Lo Tide is an album of imagination, a record that takes the listener somewhere else. Lo Tide uses field recordings and samples alongside instruments to create a delicate electronica, which is at times reminiscent of a folksier Prefuse 73. A video for the song “Little Town” is below. Other album highlights include the vocal tracks, and our favorites from the release, “Silent Plea” featuring Sophie F. on vocals, and “Come by Sea” featuring Jack Preston.
We don’t know much about Halfscissors, but we know he is from the Ukraine, and we also know he makes shadowy, downtempo, beat-driven music. His debut EP is called Train Station, and you can preview it below. The pulsing “Celebration Day” may be our favorite, although the RJD2-esque “Sweet Uzh People” and the darkly retro-futurist title-track are close behind.
George Evelyn, aka Nightmares on Wax, is set to drop what is likely to be a massive album in September called Feelin Good, and the lead-off single is called “Now is the Time.” The record will feature orchestration and strings by Jazzanova arranger Sebastian Studnitzky, keyboards by Robin Taylor-Firth, drums by German jazz percussionist Wolfgang Haffner, bass from Paul Powell, percussion from Shovell The Drum Warrior, and vocals from Mozez of Zero 7. If that lineup isn’t enough to get you excited, check out the preview of “Now is the Time” below.
