We’re all ready for the warmer months, and Essa is giving us a preview of summer with his new single, “The World Belongs to You.” The upbeat and sunny song comes from the UK emcee’s forthcoming album The Misadventures of a Middle Man, and features production by Ta-Ku. Listen to the song below, and check out a preview video that features footage from Essa’s shows in China, Australia and at the Soundwave Croatia Festival. The single also includes another Ta-Ku-produced track, “Call Me Essa,” which is only available on this single.
DJ Soulist and Fulgeance, also known as Souleance, have a new EP on the way called Brotha. The duo mixes bass heavy hip hop beats with flipped samples and electro-inspired synths on the six-song record. The EP, available digitally and on vinyl, follows the group’s La Beat Tape release, which came out earlier this year. Listen to a preview of Brotha by Souleance below.
Essa, formerly known as Yungun, has released a new EP on First Word Records called Time For Something New. Essa collaborates with a number of different producers and jumps styles as many times on the release. The title track is the standout for Broken Beat and Bass music fans; it’s produced by Simbad. Hip Hop heads will feel “Panache,” which is produced by Waajeed. “Let’s Start Living” is also a huge track, featuring Wu Tang’s Inspectah Deck as well as Skinnyman.
