Imaani has had such an impressive career already that it’s hard to believe her forthcoming album on Reel People Music will be her solo debut.
The singer started out learning from the legendary Jocelyn Brown, and went on to sing for the equally notable Incognito. She performed for over 100 million people and finished second in the 1998 Eurovision contest, and after a number of dance anthems for Defected Records, Imaani collaborated with The Layabouts for their album Future Retro.
Reel People Music has announced that Imaani’s debut solo album will drop this year. The lead-off single from the record is called “Live Without Love,” and you can hear it below.
Likely to be the jazz funk record of the year, if not simply record of the year, Morning Light is an album of jazzy soul with hints of disco funk by producer and composer Robert Strauss and the Personal Life collective. Filled with smart and yet catchy and breezy melodies, Morning Light features the timeless vocals of Stuart Lisbie, and expert performances by members of Amy Winehouse’s touring band.
Bluey of Incognito is preparing to release his debut solo album, entitled Leap of Faith. The first single and video from the album is called “Got to Let My Feelings Show,” and it’s Jazz Funk at its best. Can you believe Bluey is just now releasing his first solo record? Ski Oakenfull and Simon Grey make guest co-production appearances.
Mo Brandis, one of the singers in Incognito and apparent videographer, put together this showcase of the group’s 2012 tour of the United States. The film features performances as well as behind the scenes footage.
