With +FE Music: The Reworks, the Foreign Exchange family has released an album of beautifully progressive soul music. The release features remixes of past tracks – actually the word “remix” doesn’t quite capture the record’s adventurous sounds. These songs truly are reworks, most of them jumping into entirely different sub-genres from their original versions. And, while many remix albums are usually bonus projects or holdovers to satiate fans while they wait for the next real album, The Reworks stands on its own as a composition. In fact, it shines.
“So What If It Is” is The Foreign Exchange’s new single from their +FE Music: The Reworks remix compilation. The 2-disc set features remixes by Nicolay, Zo! 4hero, ?uestlove, and James Poyser. The release precedes +FE Music’s upcoming releases: ManMade by Zo! and The Foreign Exchange’s next long player, Love In Flying Colors.
Hip Hop group turned Indie Soul duo The Foreign Exchange is set to release a new album on October 12, and it’s called Authenticity. Listeners will hear the 2008 Grammy nominees further develop their unique sound on this record.
Phonte says, “I think every band reaches that point when they come into their own and find a sound that is distinctively theirs. The title refers to me and Nic’s journey to find our own unique space within this vast musical landscape. The biggest challenge as a musician is to find that ‘thing’ that makes you who you are. But I think we’re getting there, and we’re finding our way more and more with each record.”
We’re a little late on this one, but didn’t want you to miss it. This is the new single from YahZarah’s The Ballad of Purple St. James LP, called “Why Dontcha Call Me No More.”
